Soil is the foundation. Without it, nothing works. You have to seek out a good place to plant first, and once planted – treat it preciously. Nutrients can be found in many places, true. But, one must remember to never take too much all at once.
Watering is an ongoing activity. This requires involvement. You can say, “I watered it last week,” as you should have… But, water stales — water dries. You have to find a balance and be sure not to over-water your plant (as this can surely be bad, too).
Open-air just lets the plant be free. Few things grow well in captivity, so it must be allowed space. Room to advance through stages and stretch into its being. Without air, the plant will surely die. Let it breathe.
Sunlight is an interesting one because it’s other-worldly. All plants, however – rely on this non-worldly source. This is true whether they know it or not. It is beyond them. ALL plants reach to the heavens for guidance each day.
Time is essential as it allows you to see what the plant becomes. If you try to make it mature too soon, things fail. If key events progress too slowly, anything grown dies on the vine. Time moves seasons naturally; moment-to-moment – warmer and cooler alike — so, never fret their coming and going. Put another way, any plant that couldn’t survive a winter would’ve died still.
Love, like all good plants, needs 5 things to flourish.
