India’s Farmers, Their Protests, and My Punjabi Friend

Last week I was given the opportunity to attend a protest outside of the Indian Embassy located in Washington, D.C. that was against some recent events happening in India. I went for two reasons: 1) A humanitarian calling to do so, 2) Solidarity — my friend was there for me during BLM protests, so I wanted to be there for them for this.

I took a lot of photos at the protest in D.C. – and I’ll share 45 of them throughout this post in 3 separate sets.

And rather than walk you through my layman’s explanation, I thought it would be better to discuss what’s happening with my friend via chat and post that conversation (since they know more than I do on this subject).

The Situation in India

To catch you up a little bit quicker (in case you don’t know), here’s a brief rundown of what’s happening in India right now…

To be clear – this has gotten attention globally, and national news agencies have begun fervently covering the topic.

BBC has been covering the issue for a while now, and they regularly debate what’s been coined a “death warrant” for Indian farmers. And The New York Times has taken notice, too as these protests are spreading.
