SEPARATION (Movie) & Jupiter’s Legacy (Netflix Show)!

As the world approaches something that looks like normality, I’m liking what I’m seeing come out of the spaces of entertainment. I’m only planning to go to the actual movie theater once this year (counting down to this coming Monday for G vs. K) – but SEPARATION has me missing theaters & Jupiter’s Legacy on Netflix looks intriguing.

For Horror Movie Lovers: Separation

YouTube was kind enough to recommend this to me the other day.

8-year-old Jenny (Violet McGraw) is constantly caught in the middle of the feuding between her lawyer mother Maggie (Mamie Gummer) and artist father Jeff (Rupert Friend). She leads a lonely but imaginative life, surrounded by puppets called “Grisly Kin”, which are based on the works of her father. When Maggie is tragically killed in a hit-and-run, Jeff and Jenny try to piece together a new life. But when Maggie’s father (Brian Cox) sues for custody, and babysitter Samantha (Madeline Brewer) tries to be the new woman of the house, life in their Brooklyn townhome takes a dark turn. The puppets and frightening characters come to life and Jenny is the only person who can see them. When the motives of the ghoulish creatures become clear, the lives of everyone are put very much in jeopardy.

This REALLY makes me want to hop back into theaters. I’m a Horror movie fan (I lead up the Horror Club I started at my job) and this just looks like it has a lot of potential. I normally go see horror movies in theaters with a group of friends from work, but COVID changed all of that. This one just made me miss that a bit.

It also put me in this weird space of: What would I do in this situation? (which is always fun to consider for Horror scenarios)

This one drops on April 30, 2021.

For Superhero Complexity: Jupiter’s Legacy

A friend at work (shout out to Paul) sent me this trailer for Jupiter’s Legacy coming on Netflix.

I’ve never heard of the source material until now (never been a big reader of Image Comics), but I’m looking forward to checking that one out.

A bit about this one from the promo stuff I’ve seen:

The first generation of superheroes have kept the world safe for nearly a century. Now their children must continue their legendary ideals. From the mind of Mark Millar, Jupiter’s Legacy is streaming only on Netflix May 7th, 2021.

I really like diving into non-DC or Marvel things these days when I can find it, and even if this does belong to one of those imprints – it’s not anything too mainstream if I don’t know about it. Good time to be a comic nerd.

That’s it for this one. I just wanted more people to know about those two great-looking things coming out. Both of them could be total duds – LOL – but I’m willing to take that risk.

Peace, and thanks for reading.
