Meechdoodle, today’s interviewee, is a chill customer each time I interact with him. I didn’t even know he was an artist the first time I met him, but once I found out – I steadily admired and followed his work (I’ve even mentioned him on this blog before). Get a preview of how his creative mind works in his Black Perspective.
Introducing: Meechdoodle
SSD: Jumping right in, tell me a bit about yourself and what you do.
MEECH: Honestly, I’m just a big nerd that loves to draw, whether it be good or bad. I’ve been drawing since before I can remember, and it’s always been one of my favorite hobbies ([that] and video games).
Unfortunately, art isn’t my full-time. But I’m on a mission to make it so.

SSD: What inspired you to get into illustration?
MEECH: I was originally inspired by Saturday Morning Cartoons of the late 80s/90s. That love transferred over to comic books later in my teen years and of course, carried over to my adult life. I’ve been drawing since before I can remember. Unfortunately, I took a long hiatus from art in my 20s. But the surge in social media apps, such as Instagram, got that love for art flowing again. Seeing all the talent out there really got me inspired.
SSD: What do you hope to accomplish as you continue drawing and making art?
MEECH: The ultimate goal is to make being an artist my full-time job. Hopefully leading to working with Marvel-, DC-, and Image Comics. And hopefully, be an inspiration for other BLACK illustrators to pursue their love for the art.
Continually practice your craft and learn new things.

SSD: What’s a tip that you’d give someone who sees you, is inspired, and wants to follow in your footsteps?
MEECH: Don’t give up and stay consistent. Continually practice your craft and learn new things. Eventually, people will notice your drive.
